International Credential Evaluator (Part-time Professional Temporary)

Essential functions (job duties):
The Office of International Programs is hiring a professional technician to assist during the admission season to evaluate international foreign transcripts. The International Credential Evaluator will be responsible for evaluating international graduate and undergraduate transcripts for Wayne State University. The ideal candidate must work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment, working with graduate and international admission staff, as well as faculty and department professional staff, to aid in quick application to admission decision processes. The position will be required to effectively communicate application requirements to students and evaluate student credentials from international educational systems. This position will be responsible for assessing whether international foreign transcripts meet the university standards for admission.
Apply knowledge of procedures commonly used to identify fraudulent documents and the ability to identify anomalies or inconsistencies in educational records that may be indicators of fraud or that need special explanation in the evaluation.
Perform international credential evaluation and determine if applicant has met the university standard of an equivalence of a U.S. bachelor's degree.
Use methods and practices commonly used by credential evaluators to conduct all aspects of credential evaluation.
Research educational systems to which the original credentials are being compared.
Use bibliographic and reference sources employed in credential evaluation including internet resources.
Provide assistance with sponsor requests, reports, special projects, and documentation.
Maintain professional relationships with academic units across the university and outside constituents.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Experience in evaluating foreign international transcripts.
