Position Summary:
Performs high quality vascular ultrasound procedures that require ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment on patients. Performs Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI's with and without exercise), carotid and abdominal aorta duplex scans, upper and lower extremity arterial & venous scans (Doppler and imaging) and groin scans. Follows department policies and protocols.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
:
Specializes in performing cardiac ultrasound diagnostic studies.
Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
Operates and maintains all assigned ultrasound scanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
Positions patients, selects appropriate transducers and machine settings and conducts scanning procedures to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
Completes quality assurance processes and practices. Complies with all Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Graduation from an approved school of medical sonography
1.) Registered Vascular Technologist through the (RDMS) American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) OR 2.) a Registered Vascular Sonographer through the (ARRT)American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - RT(VS) OR 3.) Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
