GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Facilitator - Clinical Quality II is able to perform complex project work with interdisciplinary groups that include senior administrators, nursing and medical leaders. This work is done with minimal supervision from Surgical Services and Quality leadership. The CQF II leads or co-leads large system teams, guides implementation plans and acts as a consultant or facilitator on regulatory, disease certification, patient safety and quality issues. The CQF II designs and delivers educational programs to assist employees, physicians and leadership, meet safety and quality goals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs, facilitates and coordinates the design and implementation of clinical quality and patient safety initiatives, programs and projects at the business unit level and system level; provides project management support to major system clinical improvement initiatives. Demonstrates skills in conflict resolution. Using team facilitation skills, guides the team to meet timelines and outcomes for project.
Independently assesses project needs based on evidenced based best practice(s) and/or regulatory standards; Guides the selection of appropriate team members to address project needs; Guides and/or develops a work plan including timelines; Ensures teams are organized through meeting agendas and a method to document goals, responsibility and progress; Demonstrates the ability to develop an effective communication plan (including education if appropriate);Seeks leadership guidance appropriately to assist with the identification of obstacles/barriers to success.
Demonstrates knowledge of the science of process improvement and provides formal and informal consultation to all members of the health care team and support staff, external customers (including students), and administrative staff in process improvement methodologies, performance measurement, sustain and spread methodologies.
Applies various quality improvement processes/tools and ability to initiate, design, and develop process improvement projects and programs based on organizational needs; Researches "best practices" as initial step; Assists in choice of appropriate measures; Assists in design of the methodology for data collection; Assists in analysis and interpretation of data; Guides testing of changes, and specifically small tests of change.
Designs and delivers formal and informal education to all members of the health care team and support staff, external customers (including students), administrative staff on patient safety and clinical process improvement, performance measurement and management, change management, sustain and spread methodologies, and other key subjects critical to the support of patient safety and clinical performance improvement including external regulatory and quality agencies.
Interpret data for customers including leadership.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making using information technology.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of clinical experience required with two years project management and/or process improvement experience preferred.
Experience in educational curriculum design and delivery is an asset.
Experience with clinical quality and patient safety principles/initiatives; demonstrated ability to apply concepts.
Experience with new program/initiative development, implementation and evaluation.
Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Care Plus, electronic mail and Internet navigation software.
Ability to problem solve independently and work with minimal direction.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work with senior leaders and large teams with diverse members.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
Ability to adapt, respond and prioritize in a rapidly changing health care environment and ability to successfully manage multiple competing demands.

Basic understanding of the research process and statistical analysis.

Strong base of patient safety knowledge including human factors and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
Understanding of health care cultures including medical and nursing cultures.
Sound decision-making skills and problem-solving skills.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan required.
