Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Plant Manager to join our team in Big Rapids, MI.
As a Plant Manager, you will:
Provide overall direction to manufacturing site operations members for production of products and components that meet Haworth internal standards and both internal and external customer expectations. Adhere to Haworth principles and follows corporate strategic direction in terms of cost management, goal setting, safety, schedules, member relations, customer satisfaction, quality systems deployment, and other directives on multi-shift basis, in a complex operational environment. Coordinate plant support requirements in conjunction with appropriate Haworth management, including, but not limited to, Material Resource Planning, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance. May have responsibility for more than one manufacturing plant.
Essential Functions
Leads and manages operation members who are charged with ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met on daily basis to implement effective operator control systems and to comply with International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9000 standards. Primary focus is fulfillment of customer orders on-time, complete, and error-free shipments.
Achieves schedule completion consistent with customer demands and expectations. Participates, with peers, key support elements of operations (staffing, equipment, tooling, technical services, and others) to improve overall business results.
Understands customer satisfaction requirements and plant or product deficiencies; initiates activities to improve plant staff and Haworth support departments.
Leads cross-plant communication, information sharing, and team based activities, such as Quality Improvement Process (QIP) meetings, plant wide meetings, and/or corrective action teams, to assure effective management of manufacturing tools, processes, and budgets.
Provides leadership and initiates corrective action to resolve non-conformance issues to achieve established objectives.
As needed, develops local service supplier base for office supplies and maintenance services, such as facilities and grounds, plumbing, and heating/cooling systems to provide Haworth with most cost effective, high quality suppliers
Provides member work environment that meets all safety needs. Champions and works with various teams to achieve member security consistent with Haworth policies, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), and Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration (MIOSHA) standards and ISO 14000.
Performs other duties within scope as assigned.
Must be able to perform all essential job function with/without accommodation.
Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Science, or equivalent
Education Equivalency:Associate Degree plus 2 years related exp OR 4 years related exp
Work Experience:
5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
2 years supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the Toyota production system.
Experience in value stream design
SAP experience.
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
Successfully manage large numbers of people, projects, resources, and complexity, achieving superior results.
Team organizational structure and leadership principles, and materials management techniques required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Working knowledge of quality, manufacturing planning, inventory control, and engineering documentation systems and Statistical Process Control
Working knowledge of ISO 9000 certified quality control systems, lean manufacturing principles, Just in Time (JIT), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Process Management (TPM), team-based environments and continuous improvement.
Ability to be frequently exposed to production or distribution environment; can flex schedule and effectively interact with members across three-shift (24/hours/day) operation; ability to climb/bend/move in manufacturing environment.
