GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Claims Consultant, Senior Claims Consultants, Senior Claims Managers, Director of Insurance, and Vice President; is responsible for the coordination of activities and personnel functions related to billing activities, related to worker compensation claims, insurance verification and claims loss history for HFHS employed physicians as well as non-employed ONIKA insured physicians. Provides support to all team members in both the Professional Liability and Worker Compensation areas of the department.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily monitoring of department mailbox.
Respond to and provide insurance verification requests from both within and outside HFHS.
Processes monthly outside attorney billing requests.
Manages subpoenas served on HFHS and providers.
Functions as a departmental liaison between staff, administration, various departments, and patients to provide customer service, address issues, and direct them to the appropriate individual within or outside the department.
Maintain departmental equipment and office supplies.
Creates the monthly Claims and Adjudication summary booklet for distribution to committee members.
Assisting staff members in the creation of Power Point presentations on an as needed basis.
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Associate's degree in business related field or approximately two (2) years of progressively more responsibility related to the insurance verification field in lieu of degree.
Two (2) years of experience working in an office setting, preferably in workers compensation, legal, or other type of business setting.
Ability to compose, edit, and proof both routine and non-routine reports.
Draft correspondence.
People skills necessary to effectively communicate and provide customer service to people from various social-economic backgrounds.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Must have analytical and critical thinking skills to manage semi-complex details and exposure to confidential information.
