The Diesel and CNG Tractor Mechanic is responsible for repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting for all fleet equipment including tractor Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and diesel engines (fuel systems and electrical systems), 53 trailers, pneumatic brakes systems, engine diagnostics, and CNG/diesel engine drive trains. The Tractor / Trailer Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance inspections and comply with DOT regulations. Inspect and repair tractor and trailer under carriage components to include shocks, wheel bearings, air suspension components and front-end assemblies. Diagnose and repair CNG and diesel engine failures to include fuel systems, electrical systems, DEF systems and mechanical system malfunctions.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
8 years of documented proof of practical tractor and trailer repair experience
Must have strong electrical abilities in both tractor and trailer lighting systems
Must have the ability to learn to operate a 35-ton tow vehicle
Must possess a valid Michigan CDL-A license OR if hired, obtain one within your first 6 months of employment
Must have a valid passport or an enhanced driver's license
Must have the ability to work any shift
Satisfactory motor vehicle report and accident history (no DUI or OWI)
