Responsibilities include planning and managing small-to-medium sized projects of moderate-to-high complexity, ensuring positive business value, and meeting scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
Develop and maintain project plans for timely deliverables, identify initial risks, issues, and constraints, and collaborate with other functional areas to ensure successful project execution.
Manage multiple projects concurrently, oversee the flow of work according to the project plan, and ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
Lead project communication throughout the lifecycle, present to the Consumers Energy leadership team, develop performance metrics, and track project performance.
Identify and recommend new processes, techniques, and standards, drive the implementation of process enhancements, validate financial forecasts, and reconcile resources and expenditures.
The key functions within the organization include Gas Project Management, Major Projects, Project Control and Analysis, and Special Programs.
The selected candidate must have 5+ years of experience in engineering/business, leading small-to-medium scale projects and multiple small-scale projects, along with project management skills in prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, planning, organizing, and leading projects.
strong communication skills are required, including verbal, written, meeting facilitation, and negotiation, as well as interpersonal skills to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients.
The candidate must have a proven ability to work collaboratively across departments, resolve issues, drive projects to closure, earn the trust of sponsors and stakeholders, motivate teams, set direction, resolve conflicts, and deliver tough messages.
A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required within 3 years of starting the position.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with gas compression, gas transmission, or distribution infrastructure, experience in identifying and managing risks, and experience communicating and reporting project status to senior leadership.
A Bachelor of Science in engineering/business from an accredited college or university is required.
