The manager functions as the Accountant Manager of the Accounts Receivable Unit in the Accounts Receivable & Cashier Section of the Revenue Operations Division. This position coordinates the planning and direction of various accounting, internal control, and reconciliation processes; reviews and evaluates the work of professional and nonprofessional staff to ensure conformance with general guidelines, methods, techniques, policies and law; upgrading or implementing new accounting and financial systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The manager is responsible for serving as the Centralized Electronic Payment System (CEPAS) coordinator and on special projects involving division and department-wide accounting and financial activities.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
Experience
Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant or an Auditor, including two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or Auditor P11, or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12 or Auditor 12.
Alternate Education and Experience
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certification may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.
OR
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.

The physical location of this position isGrand Tower Bldg. 235 S Grand Ave Lansing MI 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
