Christman Facility Solutions is looking for Project Manager candidates for construction projects in our Grand Rapids region. This position provides a great opportunity for a long-term thinker to develop construction leadership expertise across a range of markets and clients, leverage technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness, participate in a broad range of project planning and coordination duties, and grow with the company. This role offers opportunities to bring value by mentoring project team members and sharing expertise with project teams throughout the company. Candidates with experience in healthcare, industrial manufacturing, and education markets are preferred.
As a leader for construction project teams, responsibilities will include allocating project resources, estimating, establishing subcontract agreements, and executing contractual risk protections while creating a positive safety climate. This person will be responsible for planning and delivering multiple projects at a time typically ranging from $200K to $5M sized project, developing budgets hands-on, and providing leadership to the construction project team.
What You Will Do:
As General Trades Project Manager, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Plan and prioritize individual contributions and those of team members to achieve high-quality, timely results
Develop productive relationships within the project team, contractors, and design teams and clients
Identify and understand requirements of the project team and participate in collaborative problem solving
Write proposals, monthly reports, and other related project documentation
Successfully ensure accuracy of project documentation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor and appearance at all times, and perform well under project constraints and deadlines
Strong computer skills, and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of project management software
Solid numerical and analytical skills and ability to apply these skills to achieve accurate project budgeting and basic estimating for project scope changes
Willing to pursue related educational and training opportunities for job performance improvement on an on-going basis, and to openly share knowledge and debate concepts with appropriate members of the Christman team
What You Will Bring to the Team:
Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Five years or more of construction project leadership experience. -or-
Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Successful completion of classes or other training or experience in construction management, project management, safety, communication, and ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding.
Demonstrated success in project management positions requiring professionalism and integrity.
Have a passion for team-based planning and problem-solving and wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals.
Have the ability to interact with and develop effective working relationships with a wide range of people, including internal and external customers, in different situations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks while completing work within established deadlines
Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions, and keep commitments
Must have excellent written and oral skills
Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
