About the Opportunity
The Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA) is looking for a driven, dedicated, and enthusiastic Theatre Instructor. Under the direction of the FSPA Theatre Department Chair, the Theatre Instructor teaches theatre-focused classes for all ages from beginning through advanced levels. With room for growth opportunities and department expansion, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with the drive and ambition to make a larger impact within the community through the performing arts.
Specific Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities
· Maintain knowledge of FSPA class curriculum and other materials for the class. Maintain a close liaison with the department chair and other instructors so that instructional materials and terms are consistent.
· Sign in at FSPA Office on arrival each teaching day. Wear FSPA lanyard.
· Maintain an effective rapport with students and their parents. Work effectively with students at varied levels of proficiency and with varied goals. Be an effective role model for students and parents.
· Attend Beyond Boundaries Seminar. Incorporate the approach into teaching as possible.
· Organize teaching records, forms, schedules and lesson objectives. Complete and return updated class list before the deadline each semester.
· Maintain a high level of performance ability in order to effectively model techniques.
· Work closely in cooperation with department chairs, administration, staff and faculty colleagues.
· Investigate by phone and/or email absences for which there is not notification. Track enrollment.
· Follow all FSPA safety and security procedures, including those for students ages 8 and under.
· Make follow-up phone calls and/or emails to students who drop the class. Submit follow-up report to Department Chair.
· Maintain knowledge of FSPA class curriculum and other materials for the class. Maintain a close liaison with the department chair and other instructors to ensure consistent instructional materials and terms.
· Follow Class Absence Policy in the Employee Handbook
· Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in the field and related teaching experience preferred
· Strong Interpersonal skills
· Strong verbal, written, and computer skills
· Ability to work with all ages, skill levels, and a diverse student pool
· Ability to work with all levels of internal and external patrons
· Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner when under pressure
· Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
