We are seeking a diligent and reliable Sanitation/Dishwasher/Warehouse Associate to join our food production team. This multi-faceted role is crucial for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficiency within our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment, utensils, and work areas are sanitized, dishes are washed and stored properly, and the warehouse is organized and stocked according to company standards.
Core Competencies and Areas of Responsibility
Sanitation:
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, and work surfaces following established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company hygiene standards.
- Dispose of waste and recycling materials properly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility, including floors, drains, walls, and restrooms.
- Monitor sanitation chemicals and report any shortages to the supervisor.
Dish Room:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and production equipment.
- Learn proper and hygienic use and operations of dishwashing machinery (3-compartment sink, dishwasher, hoses, etc.)
- Organize and store cleaned items in designated areas.
- Monitor dishwashing supplies and report any shortages to the supervisor.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the dishwashing area and equipment.
Warehouse:
- Receive, unload, inspect, and organize incoming shipments of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies.
- Inspect and load outbound pallets/loads of finished goods.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing trucks and trailers for cleanliness, temperature and overall condition.
- Work with QA & Ops Team if issues are found during inbound, outbound, and/or truck/trailer inspections. (Example: Restacking pallets, taking photos of damage, sealing cases/bags, etc.)
- Stock and organize products in the warehouse according to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles and Ethel’s allergen policy.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies.
- Assist in packing and preparing orders for shipment.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided if necessary).
All Areas:
- Understand, follow and promote Ethel’s Baking Company’s food safety and quality systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMPs to ensure the safety and quality of products.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow all company policies and procedures at all times, this includes but not limited to, health, sanitation, food safety and safe work practices.
- Follow FIFO (first in first out), Ethel’s allergen policy, and assist with stocking and rotating received materials.
- Understand and attain productivity, run rate, and quality expectations for assigned equipment/tasks.
- Set up dishwashing equipment and adjust as needed to ensure efficient, food safe, quality production.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues or escalate issues to Supervisor or Lead.
- Complete standard sanitation tasks as assigned.
- Use cleaning and sanitizing chemicals safely and properly to maintain a hygienic and contaminate-free food production environment.
- Understand and recognize actual or potential food safety issues and quality defects and report such to department Lead and/or Supervisor as discovered, for resolution.
- Perform housekeeping and sanitation tasks to keep the warehouse, dish room, and production areas clean, organized and safe.
- Complete all applicable production paperwork in a legible, accurate manner and ensure it is filled out completely.
- Ensure attention to details in all areas of work.
- Understand and complete all dish room responsibilities as trained using Ethel’s Baking processes and procedures.
Oral and Written Communication
- Ability to work efficiently and communicate with others as part of a team.
- Communicate issues and successes effectively across all departments in company.
- Communicate any daily production improvements, needs or concerns with Team Lead, Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
Performance Requirements & Abilities:
- Ability to report to work when scheduled and on time (ready to work in assigned area at designated start time)
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance.
- Ability to take direction, follow directions and perform all reasonable requests from the management team.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to learn proper and safe usage of all related equipment.
- Willing to accept new responsibilities for growth.
- Available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the department. As volume increases additional shifts could be added.
- The ability to lift up to 60 lbs. frequently. Push and pull carts weighing 100+ pounds and to be on your feet for an extended period of time.
- Willing to assist others as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
