This position will assist with the scheduling and logistics of all customer orders and shipments in the Midwest region. Responsibilities:
Coordinate all aspects of inbound and outbound freight from our shipping locations in Saranac to our customer locations throughout the USA.
Dispatch drivers according to scheduled deliveries.
Work and coordinate with asset base freight brokers.
Analyze customer deliveries and develop freight hauling routes accordingly.
Work with Distribution Manager on feasibility and development of backhauling freight.
Ensure compliance with all DOT rules and regulations for freight hauling and driver readiness.
Ability to monitor and analyze Samara database on driver hours, stops, delivery times, etc.
Follow up on dock appointments to make sure they are scheduled in a timely manner. Learn and work with customers that we supply direct that need dock appointments made. Chart incoming dock appointments for "on time" pickups.
Work with drivers regarding loads, schedules, routes, and travel times.
Learn routing system, steps, and procedures.
Ensure that load sheets are accurately organized and fully completed for the warehouse crew on a daily basis.
Work with vendors on product movement, ETA, OTD and late deliveries.
Responsible for external farm routing, loads returned to HPR, external direct shipments etc.
Communicate with customers and buyers regarding estimated arrival times of product.
Work with supply chain coordinators to verify readiness of product and potential short ships.
Learn criteria for when to outsource and when not to.
Work with Distribution Manager on implementation of direct track and E-Logs.
Process work orders for the truck shop.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred or experience equivalent to 2 - 3 years in a similar role involving supply chain, customer service, logistics and/or distribution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on timely responses.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet communication deadlines.
The ability to be flexible, to work in an environment that can change quickly.
Regularly on call should emergencies arise.
Proficient in MS Office - specifically Word , Excel as well as experience in SAP, ERP, EDI and SBT.
Does not own or maintain routine contact with swine , birds or cattle.
