General Position Overview
The Electrical Engineering Sr. Manager oversees all aspects of Electrical Engineering project work and processes and provides management and technical guidance to the Electrical Engineering team members.
Essential Job Functions
Reports to Director of Engineering.
Manages, evaluates, coaches, and develops engineers and technicians.
Contributes design recommendations, performs design reviews, and provides technical leadership.
Enforces organizational policies and procedures.
Recruits and onboards new team members.
Ensures projects adhere to approved budgets, meet department milestones, and maintain quality standards.
Ensures that projects are appropriately staffed and coordinates with other disciplines for design work and scheduling.
Reviews and approves all new and revised designs and test plans and procedures.
Works with Product Management to define product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities.
Works with internal and external engineering teams.
Writes and refines user stories and Jira tasks.
Leads product release and project planning discussions.
Mitigates impediments impacting successful team completion of project goals.
Initiates corrective actions and Engineering Change Requests.
Works with internal and external manufacturing teams to ensure success in production of PCBs, PCBAs and related assemblies.
Works with external and internal sources to determine customer needs and requirements.
Works with engineering team to ensure a clear understanding of customer needs.
Works with organizational leadership on department strategic planning.
Meets organizational financial objects by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, and scheduling expenditures.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years Electrical Engineering experience.
5+ years Engineering Management experience.
A strong understanding of electronics design, EMC, and troubleshooting best practices.
Experience working with Altium Designer.
Experience working with supply chain management.
Experience with automotive regulatory requirements, SAE lighting requirements, SAE vehicle specifications.
Experience with DFMEAs and PFMEAs.
Experience with electronic assembly processes, PCBA design and manufacturing.
Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and project management skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with people.
Proficiency of the basic Microsoft software packages including Word and Excel.
Experience working with Jira.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift up to 35lbs.
Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
Must be able to handle and work with small parts.
Working Conditions
Mostly office environment, occasional light manufacturing environment
Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting
Some level of domestic and/or international travel may be required
May work remotely
Mostly normal business hours with occasional need to flex hours
