About Us The Family Support Center of Barry County is the state recognized primary prevention partner for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Barry County and is committed to supporting and empowering families through comprehensive educational programs and resources. Job Summary The Family Educator will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director to develop, implement, and oversee educational programs aimed at supporting families. The role involves working closely with families to provide resources, guidance, and support in various aspects of family life, including parenting, health, education, and personal development. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops tailored to the needs of families. Provide one-on-one and group support to families, addressing their unique challenges and needs. Collaborate with community organizations and partners to enhance program offerings and resources. Conduct assessments to identify the needs and strengths of families. Create and maintain educational materials, resources, and documentation. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, recommending adjustments as needed. Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant progress. Advocate for families and connect them with appropriate services and resources. Stay updated on best practices and current trends in family education and support. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum of 2 years of experience in family education, social services, or a related field. A criminal background clearance is required. Strong understanding of family dynamics, child development, and community resources. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to working with families. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of local community resources and services.
