Job Function: Uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide psychometric and psychological testing to students for whom a signed parent consent for evaluation is on file. 2. Conduct initial and 3-year re-evaluations within timelines required by state and federal regulations. 3. Utilize current psychometric practices and evaluations in individuals based on relevant research findings. 4. Work collaboratively with school social workers to develop appropriate interventions for students. 5. Coordinate and chair multi-disciplinary teams and communicate results to the Director of Specialized Instruction or designee so that IEPC’s can occur within the required timelines. 6. Attend all initial and three year re-evaluation IEPC meetings and others as requested by the Director of Specialized Instruction or designee. 7. Interpret multi-disciplinary evaluation results to parents prior to IEPC. 8. Attend school and special education staff meetings as required by administration. 9. Provide consultation to parents and staff individually or in groups at the request of the Director of Specialized Instruction or Special Education Supervisor. 10. Serve as a liaison between eligible students in general and special education placements and appropriate community agencies and health professionals. 11. Be a part of school and/or program based teams to promote the mission of the organization. 12. Enhance professional growth through conference and in-service attendance and reading pertinent professional material. 13. Listen to concerns about academic, emotional or social problems to help students process their problems and plan goals and action. 14. Promote positive behaviors 15. Study and implement behavioral management techniques. 16. Evaluate and advise school disciplinary practices for troubled students. 17. Participate in special education by administering psychological tests. 18. Complete Medicaid documentation. 19. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Specialized Instruction.
