JOB FUNCTION: The Special Education Supervisor shall serve as an educational leader and administrator of the school. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assess the need for in-service training of staff, make recommendations, and assist the director in planning and implementing such in-service. Responsible for budget adherence and inventory control. 2. Evaluate staff as assigned by the Director or as requested by Building Principals. 3. Supervise and support highly effective instruction to significantly improve student achievement, reduce achievement gaps, and make Adequate Yearly Progress. 4. Coach teachers in effective instructional methods including higher-level thinking, instructional differentiation, relevance of materials and activities, and other best practices for improved achievement and student engagement. 5. Supervise the quality implementation of curriculum such that the standard courses of study, aligned to state standards and ensure they are being taught; that assessment and evaluation guide instruction and course packing reflects the importance of learning outcomes. 6. Support and coach para-educators to meet the needs of students with disabilities, collect appropriate data, and develop schedules and work plans that increase functional independence. 7. Develop, implement, and monitor district processes and practices that align with rules and regulations, such as IDEA, MARSE, and the MAISD plan. 8. Other duties as assigned. JOB PERFORMANCE: 1.
