Job Function: Secondary Student Support (SSS) members will do a combination of student-based interventions under each grade or academy for the same group of students for up to three years in a row. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Supervise students during unstructured time. 2. Provide support to teachers with non-compliant students as needed. 3. Assist with early arrival and departure helping students. 4. Intervene and support students through incidents that jeopardize building safety and security. 5. Build positive relationships with students in the building, particularly your assigned grade or academy. 6. Operate as a grade/academy team to ensure the mental, social, and emotional care for each student. 7. Utilize special training to interact with students, deescalate certain behaviors and form strong relationships to guide them forward. 8. Identify the most at-risk behaviors through attendance, discipline and other measures to mentor the students to foster success, mental, and educational growth. 9. SSS is expected to actively monitor their assigned area during the day by walking through the hallways and preventing inappropriate student interactions or behavior. 10. Support and use MTSS to address student needs where they are at and bring them to the place where they should be. 11. Respond to building emergencies (health, mental, physical, drills, ect.) and ensure the safety of students and staff. 12. Document job-approved responsibilities daily and turn in documentation to the Office of Instructional Services. This position is a grant-funded position and the employee is expected to follow only the assigned job duties. 13. Maintain a daily activity log of direct work with students, families, and staff. 14. Weekly Beebole reports as required. 15. Participate in professional training programs required and desired. 16. SSS is expected to supervise students during extracurricular activities that occur after school or in the evening. 17. Ensure and maintain the confidentiality of all student information and adhere to all MPS policies regarding student information and confidentiality. 18. Other duties as assigned.
