Job Summary - Director, Market Development
With significant autonomy, and on the System's most complex opportunities, holds responsibility for identifying, measuring, planning and analyzing recommendations for and leading implementation of System business and growth opportunities. Partners with System leadership in developing and executing growth strategies, tactics and plans. Identifies and develops relationships to aide in geographic expansion that will strengthen value to service lines. Evaluates competitors, market and industry and makes recommendations for traditional and non-traditional new business ventures, lines of business and/or improvements to existing services. Serves as an expert resource to senior management. Ensures consistency and synergy in operational processes and systems; develops standard metrics to be used in benchmarking plans. Networks with internal and external partners displaying expert analytical, deduction, presentation and problem-solving skills.
Essential Functions - Director, Market Development
With significant autonomy within the department, identifies, implements, and maintains annual business strategies and plans for unusually complex integration/growth projects. Recommends areas of strategic development based upon analysis or national trends and research, the regional health care environment, business development planning, and System direction.
Identifies and develops relationships to aide in geographic expansion that will strengthen service line and System position.
Evaluates competitors, market and industry and makes recommendations for traditional and non-traditional new business ventures, lines of business and/or improvements to existing services.
Uses data gathered on program performance, changes in competitive market and competitor moves (or anticipated moves) to position the System ahead of the evolving health care landscape.
Partners with System and service line leadership in developing and executing growth strategies, tactics, and plans - and in setting annual growth targets.
Determines a strategic marketing direction (product position) for new and existing product lines based on primary and second research.
Partners with Physician Relations and Strategic Planning and Market Intelligence to promote System services and physicians regionally.
Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain cutting-edge knowledge and skills for the execution of all assigned responsibilities.
Work with Business Development team to find, create and sustain data-driven solutions that improve the department's ability to serve the organization efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications - Director, Market Development
Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, in business administration and/or medical administration
Preferred Master's Degree or equivalent, in business administration
skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 7+ years of related experience in a large health care system or specialty hospital (or comparable setting) in the specified service line or in a business development role. Required
Experience working collaboratively with physicians and surgeons. Required
Experience building effective teams, especially in a "matrix management" setting. Required
