Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health Jackson is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Orthopedics to join our dynamic team. In this role, APP will work closely with orthopedic team and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to our patients.
Henry Ford Health Jackson is a high patient volume orthopedic team, so experience is required. Prefer prior patient experience as well. No new graduates.
Strong history and physical exam skills. Evaluate manage consult and identify medical health risk of adult and adolescent orthopedic patients. Order, conduct, and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and prescribe nonpharmacological therapies as allowed by the State of Michigan Law and/or statuses. Discharge planning, ordering, and summarization of orthopedic patients.
Skills- care of simple fractures, skeletal immobilization, foreign body removal, incision, and drainage, join injection/aspirations, local anesthesia, hematoma evacuation, pump management, wound closure superficial debridement.
Procedures- join aspirations and injections, suturing, splinting, and casting.

Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct patient assessments and evaluations.
· Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions.
· Perform minor procedures.
· Develop and implement patient care plans.
· Educate patients and families on treatment plans and preventive care.
· Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Clinical Documentation
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in electronic health records (EPIC)
· Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Communication
· Work closely with the orthopedic team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care protocols and quality improvement initiatives.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.
Qualifications:
· NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
· PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
· NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
· PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification
· Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan
· National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
· DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
Experience
· High patient volume orthopedic experience
· Prior patient experience
· EPIC Experience, preferred.
