EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred with three (3) years’ work experience in any, or a combination of, the following areas: marketing, sales, human services, job development, and personnel recruitment/placement. Must be a self-starter, very original, highly flexible and possess the ability to handle a variety of tasks concurrently. Must be willing to obtain any credentials or certifications required/needed. Must be willing to complete any required training/workshops. Some training/certifications may require overnight travel/attendance.
Knowledge and experience of the local labor market is advantageous for the potential candidate. The Business Service Representative must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships and represent the agency in a positive manner. Successful experience in securing and filling job openings, and the ability to prepare, submit, and maintain accurate reports are required. The Business Service Field Representative should possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the proven ability to articulate thoughts clearly on paper with proper grammar, punctuation, and use of language rules. Must be effective in working independently. The Business Service Representative must possess excellent people skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a business base to identify career opportunities. Candidates will be required to make frequent presentations before large groups and in various settings, therefore will need to have good public speaking skills. Excellent customer service skills, and flexibility in inter-personal relationships is also necessary, as he/she will be addressing a variety of individuals, providing explanations and assistance to individuals to develop employment opportunities for customers. Must be proficient in Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
This position requires the ability to promote the hiring of all customers and effectiveness in advocating on their behalf. As much of this work will be done outside the office marketing this individual will need to have a valid Michigan driver’s license, a good driving record, and have their own reliable transportation, as well as a working knowledge of Downriver business locations. This individual must be able to market to and be willing to market in the diverse communities that make up the Downriver area, as well as work outside in all seasons.
