Work Schedule
Courses are typically scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm Monday-Friday; however, evening and weekend classes may be scheduled. Exact schedule will vary based on semester, program, course, and other considerations.
Position Summary
This part-time adjunct instructor position reports to the Chair, Arts and Communication.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources, and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo and Lansing, 60 minutes to Grand Rapids and within 3 hours of Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 – 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
1. An Associate Degree, OR significant current or recent progressive work experience, PLUS current and relevant industry certifications.
2. Minimum two (2) years full-time equivalent current or recent work experience in the field/subject area. Recent is defined as within the past 4 years.
3. Must be a resident of Michigan or Indiana
Preferred but not Required
1. Extensive and demonstrated work experience that culminates in subject matter expertise in subject/discipline field.
2. Relevant and current third-party, industry-recognized credentials or certification in subject/field.
3. Successful experience in teaching, classroom management, or corporate training.
4. Experience developing training outlines, course content, and learning exercises.
5. Familiarity with higher education and/or a college environment.
6. Experience working with diverse populations with varying backgrounds, academic skills, and personal competencies.
Proposed Salary
Based on the current board-approved rate.

Job Duties
Essential Function: INSTRUCTION
Description
• Provide instruction in Graphic Design in a variety of education settings in accordance with College policies and practices.
• Prepare course materials in Graphic Design according to accreditation and best practices in collaboration with Art faculty.
• Utilize multiple strategies to facilitate learning while creating effective student assessment. Create an inclusive and respectful learning environment for students.
• Produce timely course materials including a course syllabus and schedule according to College and Department practices.
• Complete required reporting processes such as entering grades, maintain confidentiality procedures and accurate course records.
• Attend Department and College meetings as required.
• Respond to student and College communication in a timely manner.
• Assume teaching assignments at various College locations. Hours and modalities may vary. Collaborate with Department Chair to establish program schedule to meet student needs. Meet according to assigned class schedules.
