General Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall quality of the products manufactured at the plant and ensures ICC-ES standards and procedures are met and followed.
Works under general direction of the Plant Manager; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and some degree of creativity is expected.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the overall quality of products manufactures at the plant
Manages the quality assurance team
Maintains all building code reports
Ensures UFP and ICC-ES standards and procedures are followed
Communicates new standards and procedures to his team and production staff
Develops, maintains and updates specs and revisions
Maintains QC Manual and ensures is up to date
Assists in developing new standard and inspection practices and improve QA program
Oversees testing equipment is maintained and calibrations are up to date
Oversees weather chamber tests
Oversees QC database is up to date
Oversees PKD's and ensure they are up-to-date and accurate
Develops and improves product claims database
Assists Customer Service Representatives with customer complaints
Develops QC standards and improvements with Process Engineers as needed
Reduces complexity of QC manual as needed
Collaborates with UFP Corporate Engineering with testing methods
Prepares various reports as required
Performs other duties as required
Job Specifications
Knowledge
Preferred bachelor's degree in relating discipline or equivalent. High school degree or a technical degree is required.
Minimum of three years of experience in QC in a steel manufacturing environment is required; five or more is preferred.
Working knowledge of current QA test practices is preferred
Working knowledge of complete product line is preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Working experience with AutoCAD
Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP's organization, culture, and product lines
Skills and abilities
Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
Demonstrated proficiency to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, pay attention to details, and to meet deadlines.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and ability to provide written and oral instructions
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and in developing subordinates.
Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment.
Ability to apply business math to manufacturing processes.
Ability to use a computer, and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business software
Ability to identify color subtle differences and accurately identify quality defects,
Demonstrated skill in improving processes and developing KPI's for them.

-Supports the highest level of products produced.
-Clear understanding of customer quality requirements. ISO9001:15
-Communicate with operations and sales management team any customer communication involving quality.
-Establish policy that customer prints are accurate and up to date with latest revision provided to the assemblers.
-Understanding that any print changes will require a new product code.
-Engage quality control team regularly to understand the steps being taken to assure a high level of quality products are being produced.
-Maintain accurate records of all quality issues and resolutions.
-Stop production when quality requirements cannot be met, or resolutions agreed.
-Verify that all quality standards and processes have been performed.
-Perform Random Quality audits.
-Facilitate the ISO9001:15 Program and its processes, including the scheduling of Management Review Meeting's (MRM's).
-Communicate with Plant Manager & Operations Manager of all quality issues.

Working environment is generally favorable. Requires standing and walking for 75% of the time, talking, hearing and seeing are essential duties; driving a vehicle is also required.
