Job Summary - Director, Investments
Hybrid role that will be a senior member of the investment team responsible for managing $9.5 billion in assets across operating, foundation, defined benefit pension, and health insurance portfolios. The Director of Investments will operate as a generalist (i.e., work across all asset classes) and be heavily involved in the investment manager due diligence process, including sourcing new relationships as well as managing existing relationships. This position will also work closely with the VP, Investments on asset allocation and portfolio construction, as well as reviewing and negotiating legal documents when onboarding new investments. This is a senior role that is expected to manage and mentor the investment analyst on our team, with the ability to represent the Corewell Health investment team at both internal and external meetings.
Essential Functions - Director, Investments
Source investment opportunities across all asset classes and lead the due diligence process for new investment managers, including both qualitative and quantitative analysis as well as legal document review and negotiation
Perform ongoing due diligence of existing investment managers, including travel to attend annual meetings or conduct periodic onsite visits
Develop and utilize tools to systematically monitor each investment portfolio as well as all underlying investment managers to identify issues and recommend potential changes
Recommend enhancements to the overall investment process, including investment manager due diligence, portfolio construction, performance measurement, risk management, and investment operations
Supervise one investment analyst, including managing workflow and serving as a mentor
Support the operational aspects related to managing the portfolios, such as onboarding new managers and rebalancing the portfolios
Assist in the preparation of investment-related materials for Corewell Health governance meetings
Represent the investment team at Corewell Health governance meetings as well as industry conferences

Qualifications - Director, Investments
Required Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
Required Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation
10 years of relevant experience investment-related experience (irrespective of asset class)-Investment research & decision-making at an allocator (e.g., health care, endowment, foundation, or pension), investment consultant, or investment management firm Required
