GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Specialist or Senior Data Warehousing Programmer, the Project Manager, Manager or the Portfolio Director: responsible for development, enhancement, production support and maintenance of the data warehouse. Responsible for job design for simple and medium complexity requirements and development of any high complexity jobs under Leads supervision. Responsible for creating and updating of all Project
related artifacts which includes high level design and low level design documents, coding the job as per the standards, developing unit test script as well as integration test script documents and Run book creation for scheduling.
The responsibilities also include troubleshooting application issues and/or data issues when they arise. The Data Warehousing Programmer may be accountable for production support (including on-call duties in a 24x7 environment) as well as new projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in requirements definition sessions to gain a general perspective on the business objective(s) or business problem that is to be addressed by the system.
Works with Business Analysts to gain an understanding of functional requirements.
Works with Business Analysts to develop design documents.
Design and develop prototype and work with the senior personnel to fine tune the data warehouse and make recommendations, including DB and ETL job tuning.
Participates in code/design reviews to verify that quality standards and functional/technical requirements are met.
Design, code, test and implement moderately complex programs; Develops appropriate programs and systems documentation according to established IT standards.
Creates test scenarios and develops test plans to be used in testing the business applications in order to verify that client requirements are incorporated in the system design.
Assists in analyzing testing results throughout the project.
Under the supervision of senior staff, supports production systems by helping resolve problems, providing timely follow-up on problem report, and optimizing performance and streamlining processes.
Participates in technical reviews and inspections to verify 'intent of change' is carried out through the entire project.
Provides support, escalation response to production issues/errors. Performs root cause analysis and application resolution.
Provides on call second-level escalation response for client issues and application problem tickets
Ensures proper documentation and on-time delivery of all technical artifacts and deliverables.
Initiates a personal training plan, continue acquiring skills and knowledge, and pursue an understanding of the organization's business plans and strategies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree required/ Master's degree preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant domain experience in Data Warehousing, Data Mart builds, and other Information Management related initiatives.
Required to understand general data warehousing concepts such as Star Schema and Snow flake.
Must be familiar with Data Warehouse methodologies like Bill Inmon and/or Ralph Kimball.
Minimum two (2) years of experience with IBM® InfoSphere toolset version 8 or above using DataStage, Shell Scripting, Scheduling tool and SharePoint technologies.
Minimum three (3) years of experience with Oracle database.
Minimum three (3) years of experience working in both Windows and Unix environments.
Experience with FACETS, IKA, and/or PEGA is preferred.
Exposure to cloud technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Function Apps and programming with Python, Scala in data engineering space preferred.
Experience/exposure to various System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
Knowledge on database concepts like indexing, partitioning, views, materialized views, performance tuning and optimization is preferred.
Good understanding of HIPAA data Privacy and Security requirements preferred.
Experience working in a Health Insurance environment is preferred.
