Performs skilled and technical level work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Installs, alters, and repairs refrigeration systems. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Compiles with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the supervision of the departmental director or designee who assigns and checks work for compliance with standards. May exercise partial supervision over a few semi-skilled personnel or apprentices.
Requirements:
- Journeyman level plumber or pipe fitter with documented training in HVAC systems OR
- Four (4) years of experience as a repairer in the Building Trades, Maintenance, or Industrial areas with documented completion of an approved program in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration.
- Possession of a valid Warm Air or Hydronics Heating License is necessary within six (6) months of appointment to this classification. Failure to attain a valid Warm Air or Hydronics Heating License within the six (6) month period may result in the employee's termination of employment.
- Environmental Protection Agency approved certification for refrigeration handling.
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards, and precautionary methods peculiar to the trade.
- Working knowledge of the warm air and hydronics heating code.
- Skill in trouble-shooting HVAC and refrigeration problems.
- Manuel dexterity to use a variety of hand/power tools.
- Ability to work from drawings and specifications and to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to stand, stoop, climb ladders, etc.
- Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, equipment tags, etc.
- Ability to withstand extremes in temperature.
- Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not needlessly endanger the safety of one's self, others and equipment.
- Ability to coordinate assignments and work with other trades.
- Ability to work harmonious with patients, patient families, Medical Center staff, physicians, visitors, and the general public.

Pay: $22.06 - $30.53 per hour
