Description
We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Steelcase Wood Plant.
What you will be doing:
People-focused technical professional who provides technical direction and business guidance to the engineering and quality teams to align job duties with plant priorities.
Proactively develops and maintains a team of high-performing Engineers that provides support and service to a manufacturing plant.
Continually seeks innovative methods for improving team performance and the plant's quality and profitability.
Serves as consultant to other management and is considered the expert within the assigned area.
Monitor daily operations of the team and provides leadership for their activities, which will include production process improvements, support of manufacturing problems (supplier quality issues, customer complaints), etc.
Plan, manage and oversee the daily functions, operations and activities of the engineering team.
Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback to team members.
Who you are:
Required Skills and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education.
7 - 10 years engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
4 years management experience.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering technology that is applicable to manufacturing environment.
In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and production concepts.
Demonstrated project management and leadership ability.
Facilitation and negotiation skills.
Advanced level of computer skills including CAD exposure.
Must have good supervisory skills for technical development of engineers.
Able to motivate and effectively lead technical engineering personnel.
High degree of interpersonal and communication skills required to work with all levels of management.
Ability to prioritize many tasks, and to handle high-pressure situations.
Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools.
