GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of The Henry Ford Cancer Institute (HFCI) leadership:
· The financial counseling supervisor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the financial counseling team and all human resources related issues.
· Financial counselors are responsible for helping patients navigate and understand their financial responsibility of their treatment, in so doing, will reduce stress around the financial responsibility and financial toxicity.
· The financial counseling supervisor will ensure that the team is meeting its goals of counseling patients on their out-of-pocket cost, advising on insurance optimization options, and connecting patients to appropriate financial assistance programs. T
· he financial counseling supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing all medical necessity review and working with the central authorization team leadership to ensure alignment.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
· Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare or related field or seven years of experience in financial navigation/counseling, medical billing or related healthcare field required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Supervisory experience preferred.
· Advanced understanding of medical insurance required.
· Strong working knowledge of the medical field landscape.
· Experience in oncology preferred.
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office suite required.
· Must possess excellent communication skills- written, verbal and listening skills.
· Must be able to demonstrate all aspects of hospitality, professionalism, prompt and courteous service, positive demeanor in stressful situations, and attention to detail at all time.
· Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking.
· Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
· Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
· Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly personality.
· Must be a team player.
