Scope of Responsibility
Cascade Engineering has an opening for a Molding Set Up Technician Level 2 (internally we call it a Set Up Tech/Die Setter).This position will be working on the day shift at our container plant. As a Set Up Tech / Die Setter, you will be working in the Plastic Injection Molding environment and will perform mold changes on injection molding and related machines. The Set Up Technician / Die Setter will also be responsible for setting up secondary equipment and fixtures as well as assists with material handling, and other responsibilities, as needed.
Location: Buursma Plant (4950 37th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)
Shift: Day Shift 6am – 6:10pm (working 3 days one week, 4 days the next and every other weekend)
Pay Range: $19.46 - $26.76
General Responsibilities:
Day to Day - Follow Standard Work and procedures in performing all tasks as assigned. Safely utilize tools and equipment to produce high quality products and includes knowing how to use Personal Protective Equipment, proper lifting techniques, safety around conveyors. Use STOP authority to minimize scrap production
Documentation - Using “quality criteria” to ensure products are produced in a manner to meet established quality standards. Enter scrap numbers into MODS as directed by standard work. Read and apply information provided on deviations and quality alerts. Able to access and read a Bill of Material. Can properly fill out and utilize clamp calculation sheets
Machine Adjustments - Performs mold changes safely and efficiently. Understands core logic/sequence. Has the ability to determine the appropriate Knock Outs/Ejector Bars setup. Knows why and how to inspect platen holes, bolts, cranes, and chains. Knows why and how to inspect a lift lug. Has the ability to hook up water, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic lines and verify all auxiliary equipment is functioning as intended. Has the ability to make repairs to auxiliary lines including replacing lines, replacing O-rings, and replacing fittings. Has the ability to setup an injection molding machine to the MSU
Plant Collaboration - Communicates effectively including shift change overs, walkthroughs, and mold changes. Can setup and troubleshoot Secondary Equipment such as hot-stamping equipment. Understanding and completion of TPMs - Daily or Weekly as required. Understands and can identify the basic components of a mold. Has the ability to fill out service requests. Understands and follows incident report procedures
Additional Tasks - Can effectively shut down all presses in plant to perform a mold change. Understands and follows mold change standard work document #: CE-OI-0225. Will provide leadership and training to new technical team members, as needed. Responsible for completing and maintaining all required training, including but not limited to: Routsis Online Training (to the level of Technician 2), LOTO Class and Certification, forklift testing and licensing, Overhead Chain and Crane testing and licensing, Basic Mold Change Assessments and other duties as assigned
