Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess one of the following Michigan licenses: Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse
Summary:
Provide health care services to Harbor Light detox and program clients according to professional standards and The Salvation Army Harbor Light Policies and Procedures.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all inquires with regards to information, referral, and/or possible admission
Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services, schedule detoxification admissions according to Harbor Light admission criteria
Conduct client admissions/discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including completion of all required medical documents
Provide general health care of clients which includes but is not necessarily limited to: a) administering and recording medications as prescribed by attending physicians, b) perform vital sign checks and document results
Take appropriate action as directed by attending physician to ensure clients medical stability and in cases of emergency facilitate assistance per Harbor Light protocol.
Assist Medical Director or designate in the provision of medical services
Work with the treatment team to maintain order, discipline, and a substance free environment
Attend all required staff meetings; training sessions, seminars and/or workshops for staff development
Maintain records, charts, logs and all other pertinent data for the medical unit on a daily basis
Qualifications:
Possess working knowledge of Occupation, Safety, and Health Administration standards and Universal Precautions
Possess good communication skills
TB Test and police clearance required
Authorization to work within The United States
