- HIV Status Neutral Support Coordinator at the Ruth Ellis Center (Research Coordinator)
The Ruth Ellis Center (REC) is a community center for LGBTQ+ young people in Highland Park, MI. Since 2016, Henry Ford Health has been collaborating with REC to provide medical services in REC's Health and Wellness Centers. Services include primary care, gender affirming care, PrEP for HIV prevention, HIV treatment, and comprehensive sexual health services.
The HIV Status Neutral Support Coordinator is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team who works closely with individuals at risk for or living with HIV to address barriers to care. This role provides a range of client-centered services to address insurance issues, transportation barriers, housing instability, and food insecurity. The Status Neutral Support Coordinator follows-up with the client regarding medical treatment to ensure timely delivery of services, health education and risk reduction, and continuity of care.
Experience in HIV services, mental health, and/or homeless services is preferred. LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) cultural and diversity competency is required along with familiarity with the Ruth Ellis Center's principles of work: trauma-informed care, harm reduction, restorative justice, and positive youth development. Work with a multidisciplinary team to identify clients who are at risk for acquiring HIV or who are living with HIV.
Provide support to HIV negative individuals who are interested in starting PrEP and those already utilizing PrEP.
Provide support to clients living with HIV to stay engaged with health services.
Assess clients for barriers to care and provide supportive services to clients, including assisting with completion of insurance applications, payor access programs, food and transportation assistance/referrals, appointment reminders, and health education.
Conduct community-based outreach
Provide ongoing follow-up to ensure appointment attendance and medication adherence.
Effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for optimal service delivery.
Maintain appropriate patient files and timely documentation of services.
Stay informed about current HIV/AIDS trends, prevention efforts, and strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze protocol specific requirements and implement quality assurance measures to ensure physician, patient and clinician compliance.
Abstract medical information from various sources in the patient medical record.
Report adverse events to medical monitor, FDA, and all other governing bodies.
Coordinate all external audits and monitoring visits, and serve as liaison between institution and sponsor.
Serve as departmental and system-wide resource.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Research, Biology, Chemistry, Nursing or other closely related field.
Two (2) years of relevant experience preferred.
Previous coordinator experience preferred.
Organizational and analytical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated verbal and written skills at professional level.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: SOCRA or ACRP and IATA certification preferred.
