DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center. DMC University Laboratories evolved in 1993 and is comprised of Core Laboratories, Specialty Laboratories, two rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood Bank Lab, and full service outreach infrastructure which includes patient service centers, remote ambulatory laboratories, marketing staff, courier system and billing department. The DMC University Laboratories service area covers the entire Southeast Michigan market, and is growing at a rapid pace with the following outstanding features: Test menu of over 1,000 tests, which includes high end specialty tests. Less than 1% of our tests are sent to outside reference laboratories. Provide reference laboratory services to many of the other healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and several out of state facilities.
Job Summary Coordinates daily activities of assigned staff and ensures proper processing of tissue specimens as well as receiving and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic and pathological examination.
- Provides input into policy development from a professional, technical or procedural perspective.
- As directed, provides input into procedure/protocol development, ensures compliance and provides interpretation of procedural intent as requested.
- Monitors work flow and schedules staff accordingly. As requested, input on performance appraisals and personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.
- Provides input into the development of immediate, daily and/or monthly goals and measures for single or multiple, closely related functions, areas or processes and compiles periodic unit/area performance data.
- Assists in monitoring budget for single or multiple, closely related functions, areas or services.
Qualifications
:
1. Associate degree in Biology or related science or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
2. One to three years of progressively more responsible histology laboratory experience.
3. HTL registry or HT registry.
