Bookkeeper – Day Shift
Surgeons Choice Medical Center is a patient centered health care facility and physician owned destination of care focusing on all hand, joint, orthopedic and sports medicine. In 2004, in an ambitious push to bring hospitality back to the hospital, a small group of top Metro-Detroit surgeons decided to create their own surgical hospital; one that provided patients with the best possible care in a small, easy-to-manage environment that truly embraces the best patient experience. We have since become the premier center of choice with 30 surgical beds, 26 rehabilitation beds, and 6 operating rooms.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:
- Associates' degree in accounting required.
- 1-3 years experience in bookkeeping required.
- Hospital experience preferred.
- Substantial general ledger experience. Strong understanding of the purpose and use of each general ledger account established or required to be established.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet software and financial tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to detect and prevent errors in financial reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration.
- Ability to access and fully use the electronic accounting and reporting systems used by Surgeons Choice.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing financial procedures and regulations.
- Maintains HIPAA compliance and other lawful practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
- Prepare and post various journal entries to the general ledger.
- Record financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring proper classification and coding of transactions.
- Upload Payroll Entries from ADP and post them into TruBridge.
- Prepare monthly depreciation expense entries.
- Reconcile fixed asset module to the general ledger.
- Set up capital leases and amortization schedules.
- Manage prepaid expenses for rent, insurance, taxes, and other expenses.
- Generate financial reports such as income and expense statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Provide analysis and insights into financial performance and trends.
- Run Monthly Trial Balances and Operating Expenses reports.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with general ledger accounts monthly.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank records and accounting records.
- Monitor cash flow and identify any irregularities or discrepancies.
- Entries include posting cash activity including bank transfers, concentration ACH entries, and other cash entries daily.
- Generate the Weekly Concentration Cash Activity Report.
Tax Preparation:
- Prepare and process use tax payments monthly and scheduled payments for property taxes, financing arrangements and indebtedness.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations and maintain accurate tax records.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors or auditors as needed.
Vendor and Compliance Management:
- Aid in accounts payable processes, including inputting PO & Non-PO Invoices and reviewing POs before closing accounts payable and PO modules as necessary.
- Prepare for approval by the Accounting Manager 1099 forms and then distribute 1099s to vendors.
Departmental Spend:
- Serve as a gatekeeper for company credit card usage and maintain log, documenting spend and ensuring necessary approvals have been met.
- Manage company Amazon account and all associated order requests.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Maintains HIPAA compliance and other lawful practices through guidance from Surgeons Choice Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures.
