About the role
As a Waste Sustainability Consult you will manage and support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives for a large manufacturing customer, across their North American facilities.
Responsible for developing sustainability strategy for clients' real estate portfolios, and Lead real estate sustainability-related projects and programs for a large corporate client with a portfolio of buildings, with a strong focus on waste reduction, eradication, and recycling.
What you'll do
Assessing current facility waste streams, and implementing projects and initiatives that align to the customers environmental ambitions
Work alongside facilities teams to drive zero waste to landfill across the estate
Provide innovation and new ideas to the customer, creating business justifications where necessary
Where applicable, assess circularity principles, and apply throughout the estate
Where applicable, work with the customer and facilities team to introduce waste standards (such as TRUE Waste certification process)
Managing the green building certification program (LEED, WELL, ENERGY STAR) to ensure timely & successful project completion
Advising on green real estate standard processes, including for buildings that are not pursuing certifications
Developing opportunities for employee involvement/engagement in sustainability
Promoting accomplishments in internal & external communications and applying for recognition programs/awards
Ensures that global sustainability standards are applied throughout the managed properties.
Manage sustainability-related employee engagement
Communicate past, present, and future Sustainability plans and performance through formal presentations to account team.
Develops, updates, communicates, and implements sustainability standards, water efficiency standards, and best in class waste and recycling processes.
Develops and presents monthly sustainability status and variance reports. Monitors and reports on energy use, water use, waste diversion rates and spending trends as requested.
Collaborates with the global platform on the implementation and management of sustainability projects in a timely and accurate fashion.
Supports governance program to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Support activities related to the formal review and unscheduled audit of numerous Strategic Partners, and external outside service providers to ensure conformance with documented CBRE or Customer policy, procedures, and guidelines.
Be responsible for the execution and delivery of the allocated scope of works which may include sustainability frameworks.
Manage weekly and monthly meetings with the partner team on an agreed schedule and structure with a formal agenda and documented actions.
Oversee and support the preparation of sustainability improvement cases and proposals to an agreed standard with appropriate sign off providing the client with opportunities to improve the sustainability performance of the operations.
Providing insight and updates to specific areas of risk and opportunity.
Manage and maintain relationships with colleagues from CBRE's matrix of sustainability specialists finding opportunities to leverage capabilities and increase the value generated for the client.
Ability to analyze corporate portfolio performance by benchmarking and derive measurements of performance reflecting all aspects of sustainability
A competent communicator with the ability to engage on often challenging subjects to develop competencies, and generate shared purpose
Technical competent in understanding complex problems, think strategically and identify sustainable solutions
Develops and presents ad-hoc reports as needed based on client feedback.
Manages internal and external relationships in support of program. May contract and manage vendors
What you'll need
Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
Sustainability Accreditation (e.g., LEED, or WELL) is preferred.
Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive approach.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Waste Sustainability Consultant position is $75,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Waste Sustainability Consultant position is $90,000 PAY annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
