The River Rouge Public Safety Department is seeking applicants for the position of Public Safety Officer in the City of River Rouge. Officers answer calls for Police, Fire, and medical emergencies while always striving to provide respect and care to the citizens they serve. As our department is growing, so are our career opportunities, including, but not limited to, the Detective Bureau, Crime Scene Unit, Armory Unit, K-9, SRO, Bicycle Patrol Unit, Motorcycle Unit, and Task Force Assignments.
The salary Range is between 50,000 to 72,000, with health, dental, and vision starting on Day 1. The department doesn't just offer a competitive salary, but also a comprehensive benefits package. This includes MERS Pension, paid vacation, sick days, paid training, and pre-service police academy tuition reimbursement. For lateral candidates, experience is valued and will be rewarded with higher wages and a signing bonus based on the following experience tiers: $2,500 for 6 months to 1 year of service, $5,000 for 2 to 5 years of service, and $7,500 for 5 years or more of service.
