As a Pharmacy Technician at Michigan Medicine, you will work within a highly collaborative team that includes Pharmacists, Technicians, and other medical professionals. We provide all of our Pharmacy Technicians with a comprehensive, hands on training to ensure you feel confident in performing your day to day responsibilities. Once training is complete, you will be able to prepare sterile IV products, restock automated dispensing cabinets, and dispense solid oral dosage forms for patients visiting the various infusion sites.
General Pharmacy Technician duties may include:
- You will perform activities relating to or supporting the preparation, compounding, processing, and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervisor or resident
- You will assist in the retrieving/filing medication orders from electronic systems
- You will assist in general pharmacy cleaning/maintenance/stocking
- You’ll prepare investigational drugs per research protocols
- You’ll triage telephone inquiries
- Assist with training of staff
Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity: lifting, pulling, bending, manual dexterity movements. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize with accuracy and dependability: Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
Pharmacy Technician Associate:
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
- Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematical skills are necessary.
- Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability.
Pharmacy Technician Intermediate:
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
- One or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary.
- Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematical skills are necessary.
- Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability
Pharmacy Technician Senior:
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
- Two or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience is necessary.
- Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematical skills are necessary.
- Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability
At least one year of technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is highly desirable. Basic algebra including performing pharmacy calculations is also highly desired.
This is a full time position. Hours depend on the infusion center operational hours. Shifts start as early as 6am and end as late as 8pm. Weekends also must be worked on a rotational basis. Rotation among work locations may occur. The locations for which employee rotate through include: Brighton Center for Specialty Care, Children’s and Women’s Infusion Center, East Ann Arbor Health Center, Northville Health Center, Taubman Center, Rogel Cancer Center, West Ann Arbor Health Center.
