Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a nuclear medicine technologist, senior nuclear medicine technologist, nuclear pharmacist or physician, a Nuclear Medicine Technologist Assistant performs basic departmental tasks relating to patient care, quality control checks on instruments, radiopharmaceuticals, and some imaging procedures. A Nuclear Medicine Technologist Assistant uses specific age and culture-related physical intellectual, psychological and developmental attributes in assessment of planning, education of patient, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Delivers excellent customer service. Follows Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.
Essential Functions
Perform basic patient care related to successful completion of selected imaging procedures. This includes verifying that all pre-test conditions are met, QC checks are completed, performing, explanation, positioning, acquisition, and processing of some procedures.
Perform follow-up charting and filing of patient's results and department dictation, faxing reports, answer phones, call patients, and patient transport.
Assists the technical staff, Physicians, department manager, and office staff with other duties as assigned. Assist the radiation safety officer with the monitoring of all patient care areas following guidelines of our quality management program.
Check daily schedule and order appropriate types and amounts of radiopharmaceuticals; maintain appropriate records for radiopharmaceuticals while following all Corewell Health guidelines for patient safety.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of relevant experience patient care experience Preferred
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross required
