What is a PACE program?
- The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)* is a unique health care model designed to help seniors (participants) stay safely in their home for as long as possible. PACE coordinates and provides or facilitates all medical care for its participants. Services are delivered across various settings, including on site at the PACE center, in the community, and in participant homes.

At PACE, employees have the opportunity to see the full impact of their efforts. Staffing ratios are much lower, time spent with each participant is much greater, and team collaboration occurs much more frequently than in other care settings. PACE is a very fulfilling health care delivery model for its employees.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Conducts standardized testing as determined by the OTR.
- Assesses the need for adaptive and/or durable medical equipment in conjunction with the OTR as needed.
- Implements a participant centered plan for therapy designed by the OTR that may include ADL/IADL training, therapeutic exercises, DME education, caregiver education, and environmental modification.
- Provides training to caregivers, family members, and friends related to the functional and cognitive abilities of participants that follows the participants goals and the organizational mission.
- Completes home visits/treatments and ADL assessments in the home setting as determined appropriate by or in conjunction with OTR.
- Adheres to PACE Central Michigan policies and follows OTA practice laws, and reports to direct leader regarding these issues.
- Documents in the participant’s medical record as required by policy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must possess an associate degree in the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Program.
- Must be a graduate of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and American Occupational Association or equivalent organizations.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with the frail, elderly, or long-term care population
