Position Summary: This position represents Little Pine Island Camp & Retreat Center (LPICR) to guest users and facilitates positive user experiences to motivate return reservations. With the Camp Director, the position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Little Pine Island Camp & Retreat Center.
Essential Responsibilities:
Event Sales/Services Coordination
Develop and manage internet and other marketing presences.
Market for and field inquiries for potential client contracts.
Coordinate food services for client events; assist the food service team as needed.
Act as primary host for guest groups, visits and events.
Camp Services
Manage seasonal program (aquatic and experiential learning) and environmental services, including staff training and supervision.
Coordinate volunteer projects and project supervision.
Assist the Camp Director in membership development and relations.
Budget/Finance Support
Assist the Camp Director in financial management and preparing budgets.
Coordinate invoices and receivables with divisional accounts staff, compile information for annual UBIT reports and monthly divisional statistical reports.
Research purchasing, assist in requisitions, and constantly assess and recommend procedural improvements.
Facilities Use Management
Schedule facility use and manage all related communications and records.
Prepare facilities for use including room set ups and equipment arrangements.
Supervise housekeeping and environmental services staff.
Coordinate camp maintenance activities with maintenance supervisor to the benefit of guest experiences.
Assist camp director with vendor arrangements.
Seasonal Guest Program Management
In coordination with the Camp Director, plan and execute experiential learning programs and recruit qualified practitioners to assist in program delivery.
Act as Aquatics Supervisor as defined by American Camp Association Accreditation Standards and State of Michigan Rules for camps.
Attain an appropriate certification to act as Course Manager for the LPICR experiential learning program.
Annual course set up and take down, perform routine periodic inspections on course.
Maintain related documentation for seasonal review by certifying bodies.
Operate program activities in compliance with Association for Challenge Course Technologies operations standards.
Camp Office Management
Manage supplies, equipment and office processes.
Manage I.T. improvement projects and repairs in coordination with Divisional IT Director and Camp Director.
Assist the Camp Director in staff/volunteer training.
Assist in hiring staff by starting job requisitions, interviewing, conducting reference checks and working with divisional HR during the hiring and onboarding process.
Assist in seasonal payroll administration.
Assist in production of staff manuals/training materials.
Coordinate seasonal staff events.
Staff Supervision
Provide training and conduct performance assessments for supervised staff.
Recommend disciplinary action to the Camp Director.
Manage volunteer coordination.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High school diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
1 year experience in business/finance management, preferable in a camp or related program.
1 year experience supervising employees.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Position may involve evening schedules and frequent weekend duties as needed.
Working knowledge of maintenance/facilities, guest services, and office management.
Previous program experience in aquatics and/or experiential learning (preferred).
Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as
Must have and maintain a current valid chauffeurs' license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR) or obtain chauffeurs endorsement within 30 days.
Obtain approved Lifeguard and CPRPR/AED and Wilderness First Aid Basics certifications required.
Obtain Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Level II Practitioner certification required.
