This temporary position will average 20 hours per week and require up to 3 days in person. It will be based out of the Henry Ford Health corporate office.
The mission of the Generation with Promise (GWP) program is: Move more. Eat better. Change lives!
General Summary/Responsibilities:
Research educational material on food systems and nutrition, physical activity, health and wellness and aligning GWP PSE opportunities with department strategic plans.
Conduct presentations and develop leadership skills.
Engage with GWP staff, assist with Youth Wellness Ambassador (YWA) summer programming, facilitating and other health education at community events.
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating, and the importance of physical activity, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and youth engagement practices.
Learn about and promote policy, systems, and environmental change related to physical activity and nutrition, social justice, community benefit agreement collaboration and cultural responsiveness.
Support developing updated Youth Wellness Ambassador (YWA) Alumni contact information database.
Assist with the coordination of the YWA summer event.
Education/experience requirements:
High school diploma/GED required.
Previous Youth Wellness Ambassador YWA preferred.
Highly motivated and motivating individual to help promote health and wellness practices within the community.
Must have reliable internet access for meetings and research purposes.
Demonstrate a willingness to work with others who are different than themselves.
Must possess a positive outlook, strong presentation skills, and willingness to talk to groups of varying sizes.
Must be available for all dates of the program.
Must have a reliable method of communication (phone or email) and transportation.
Position entails flexibility, averaging 20+ hours weekly.
