Description:
A company in Northern Michigan is looking for a product engineer to support the sustainment activities for a line of products. Company manufacturers tactical respirators for prisons, police force, military, etc. This individual will be responsible for addressing any issues for a major product line that come up in production. This could include non-conformance issues or build issues and then will develop and implement a solution. The product line this person will be responsible for to start has many parts included from suppliers so communication with suppliers is important to ensure they are releasing a product they are confident in.
Analyze field returns and perform failure analysis / root cause analysis (8Ds)
Validate customer needs, complete APQP process on product looking to introduce into market
Proof of concept, go through development cycle, build prototypes and prove it can do what intended to do
Production tooling, create production processes and make sure product can be produced at volumes necessary
Program Management of a project - coordinate with test engineers and CAD designer to ensure all aspects of project are completed on time
20 - 30% of time spent in sustainment functionality - troubleshooting issues and identifying root cause
50% in redesign & solutioning of problem found
20 - 30% implementation & validation of solution
