Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions. Contingent Option 1: Unit-based contingent that reports directly to the Unit Manager/Unit Director. Meets all accountabilities of a Registered Nurse. (Refer to Job Description, Registered Nurse, F02426).

Scheduling Requirements for Contingent
- Contingent staff must give availability for a minimum of 60 hours in a 6-week period (per schedule).
The Emergency Department is not required to grant hours to fulfil this commitment if none are available and the minimum hour requirement can be waived.
Contingent staff must give availability for a minimum of 12 weekend hours per schedule.
Contingent staff give availability for a minimum of 18 hours off-shift per schedule. Weekend and off shift hours are independent of themselves.
Contingent staff must give availability for a minimum of 8 hours for one summer holiday and a minimum of 8 hours for one winter holiday.
o This will be based on your assigned holiday rotation.
o The Emergency Department is not required to grant hours to fulfil this commitment if none are available.
Contingent staff must give availability for a minimum of 8 hours on a hard-to-fill shift per year.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
Previous 1-2 years recent related clinical nursing experience and a demonstrated level of performance and practice required.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
