DeWys Manufacturing, Inc is seeking Paint Line Tech.
Manages and monitors all equipment and associated paint processes to ensure they are meeting or exceeding set goals for safety, quality, production and or line speed / density. Improve skills set for all operators and support operators in all processes, standard operating procedures, quality, pre-hang, loading, inspection and unload/packaging. The paint line technician will be the go-to authority for paint line based PM schedules, completion and PM forecasting which will include the line lubrication system, wash, ovens and application room(s). Leads 8D corrective actions processes that can include writing corrective actions and or use the DMAIC process to solve customer quality and or internal constraint issues. The technician will be responsible for paint samples / color chips, updating samples and generating reports that will prove out paint processes to support proper cure temperature(s), mils, gloss and application methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Will work in conjunction with the team leads and BUM to ensure the machines and operators are achieving established goals. Will work injunction with estimating to ensure we can achieve cost effective quotes to meet processes. Will work with the team leads and operators to keep our employee skill and knowledge to established goals. This can include record keeping, collecting data to prove out processes or use data to formulate conclusions to paint line KPI”s.
Create and maintain consistent clear set up instructions. Create the standard template or method to communicate to the operators how the machine and fixturing is used.
Condition of equipment. Monitor and maintain working condition of equipment to ensure that it is in proper use. Ensure the condition of our machines are maintained. Work injunction with maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained in the correct condition. Responsible for all paint line based PM’s; forecasting, scheduling and PM closure. This will also include proper work instructions for all team members to complete PM’s.
Training. Complete or assist in training needed for operators to ensure they have skills needed to complete their daily tasks. This can included pre-hang, load, application, vault, inspection, unload, packaging and completion of paint process PM’s. The training completed is to ensure that the team members can accomplish their goals/ metrics.
Labor cost. Reduce labor cost by converting processes over to automation or improving manual process. This can include hanging for density, line speed or line stop evaluation and powder waste usage.
Waster water treatment. Reduce chemical and or water usage to lowest points possible for environmental gains and or cost savings in chemical usage(s). Will formulate report(s) to show water vs chemical costs with gains and or losses in each category.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. Will need to work with team leads to identify training needs for operators, improvement opportunities. Will have input on team members performance during the review process and may be called in during the review process for assistance.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Will need to have clear and effective communication skills to help promote and deal with situations, morale and team building. Will need to completed or have completed some communication training.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 5 or more years experience in manufacturing, preferably metal fabrication; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership training. Will need minimal of 3 years’ experience in the specific area.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, safety rules, work rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information, communicates, and responds to questions from team members, customers, and suppliers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must pass the DeWys competency test.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must possess good problem solving skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License to be licensed as a qualified lift truck driver at DeWys Manufacturing, Inc.

While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to stand; team member is frequently required to communicate with fellow team members and walk throughout the VS. The team member is occasionally required to sit while performing administrative duties. Team member may on occasion be required to climb, balance, and crawl underneath machines when performing necessary repairs or maintenance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The team member is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes and airborne particles when performing grinding operations; and toxic and caustic chemicals when cleaning tools. Team member is also exposed to outside weather conditions when unloading sheet metal supplies. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud requiring hearing protection to be worn at all times. Safety glasses must also be worn at all times by team members.
