Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
To demonstrate a high degree of related technical competence in assessing the patient diagnosis and the requested MRI exam. Under the guidance of a radiologist, performs MR scans to improve quality patient care.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Prepare patients for MRI exams by interviewing, screening for contraindications to MRI and explaining the MRI procedure. Prepare the necessary materials and the MRI scanner for the procedure.
- Perform routine MRI procedures as well as research protocol development procedures directed by the Radiologists by using correct protocols, coils, and patient safety techniques.
- Trained in proper method of injecting contrast media and the potential risks associated with this process.
- Ability to film and use archive equipment using appropriate formats and techniques.
- Provide radiologists with all information needed for interpretation of the procedure.
- Maintain department and patient records as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Maintain medical supplies at adequate levels.
- Participates in Continuing Education opportunities and maintains certification.
- Demonstrates Basic Life Support Skills
- All other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• ARRT registered • MRI registered or registry eligible with expectation of MRI certification within one year of date of hire |
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in MRI. |
• Graduate of certified MRI program or High school diploma and minimum of 2 years’ experience in MRI. • Minimum of AHA Heart Saver certification or BLS required. |
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations. • Ability to focus and maintain a high degree of accuracy while performing a wide variety of MRI studies. • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. |
3 12-hour shifts Saurday through Monday, 6am-6:30pm
