DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans and prepares healthy, nutritious meals and snacks.
2. Prepares food for large groups of children and adults following written recipes and USDA guidelines.
3. Safely operates, cleans, and maintains utensils and equipment used in an institutional kitchen.
4. Adheres to and ensures sanitation requirements are met when storing, handling and preparing food.
5. Makes accommodations for special dietary needs. Maintains accurate records, both on paper and in designated online systems. Maintains confidentiality regarding students and families.
6. Following an approved food budget, orders and purchases food and supplies. Conducts regular inventory.
7. Maintains records, food purchase receipts and other documentation in accordance with USDA.
8. Works in partnership with assigned Aide(s) in the performance of kitchen duties.
9. Distribute and posts weekly menu.
10. Assists teachers in implementing classroom nutrition education activities that promote healthy foods and model healthy behaviors.
11. Delivers food to classroom and other Centers.
12. May train kitchen staff and supervise.
13. Protects the safety of children by implementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time.
14. Ensures the mobilization and documentation of matching/in-kind funds
15. Works in cooperation with supervisor to develop and document progress on professional development plan. Actively engages in professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordance with Corporation’s Core Values.
16. Participates in staff meetings, committees and training sessions.
17. Assists in the classroom as needed.
18. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory duties but is expected to train or explain work procedures to others.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Requirements:
• No formal education is required but must be able to follow standard practices and instructions, keep routine records and communicate with staff, parents and children.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. is recommended.
• Individual must meet food safety certification requirements for state in which they are employed. (State requirements may vary)
• Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify as required.
• Minimum of one year of experience performing kitchen management functions is required.
Skills and Abilities:
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Microsoft Office products and on-line client management systems preferred.

• Position requires occasional pushing of heavy cart, bending, reaching and climbing.

Background Checks:
• All employees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check. Specific rules by Area of Focus will indicate whether a state or federal fingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. A fingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check. Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.
Positions that Require Driving:
• Telamon Corporation / TRC employees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related duties are to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limits required are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage. The insurance liability requirement covers use of an employee’s personal vehicle.
• Telamon Corporation/TRC employees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain a satisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.
• Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
