Position Overview
Our estimator’s role is primarily focused on preparing reliable estimates leading to profitable sales of new Contract Glazing work for Commercial construction projects. This will include accurate and timely material take-offs, cost estimates, planning, and documentation of sales opportunities and compilation into successful bids. Following notification of sale, the Estimator will compile and hand-off a complete, well-documented package to Project Managers. Hourly rate starting with no experience 35K to 70K
Essential Job Functions
• Consult with clients, vendors, internal fabrication /installation resources to resolve questions and formulate reliable estimates.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies and offer value-engineering alternatives.
• Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work.
• Review material and labor requirements to recommend options on make vs. buy decisions as they pertain to fabricated components, subcontract work, etc.
• Periodically evaluate actual to estimated costs; where appropriate, improve algorithms and internal methods to improve reliability of project estimates and predicted profitability.
• Submit bids per customers’ requirements and follow-up to gain feedback on competitiveness.
• Document sales history and opportunities.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Job Functions
• Assist Project Mangers with sold job documentation and data entry.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors; become involved in supplier development and value-engineering as required.
• Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
• Document bid history, outcomes and supplementary notes.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). Associates or Bachelors degree in pertinent disciplines preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and other construction documentation.
• Ability to learn or use vendor’s estimating software.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday 7 am to 4 pm.

Physical Requirements
• Able to spend long periods of time sitting or standing.
• Able to spend long periods of time using a computer.
• Able to use office equipment such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, filing cabinets, etc.
