GENERAL SUMMARY
Under direction, this position is responsible for information, research and communications activities which promote the programs and services of all departments under the umbrella of Health and Community Services. Serves as the point of contact for media relations. Prepares, edits and disseminates information and the promotion of department programs and services. Provides leadership for communication efforts and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates the utilization of various communication channels such as social media, websites and various web tools ensuring accuracy and consistency with all departments under Health & Community Services. Assists with government affairs, review of legislation, and performs public outreach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitates and coordinates the communication activities and operations for all departments under the umbrella of Health & Community Services.
Serves as the point of contact for media relations.
Provides leadership for communication efforts and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders.
Develops marketing strategies for department programs and services.
Coordinates the utilization of various communication channels such as social media, websites and various web tools ensuring accuracy and consistency with all departments under Health & Community Services.
Creates and edits documents, photographs, and videos for promotion, reporting and documentation of events.
Ensures the integrity and effectiveness of departmental information presented to internal and external audiences.
Prepares technical reports and presentations related to annual reports, budgets, programs, and services, etc.
Plans or assists in the coordination and promotion of community outreach and community action events.
Monitors local and national media reports and identifies opportunities to promote community outreach messages.
Represents the department and participates in meetings, presentations, and project conferences to present strategic plans, operations, proposals, etc.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned duties.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university

Five (5) years of experience in communications, direct media, or marketing within a government or non-profit setting
Preferred Education and Experience
-
Master’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Required Licenses or Certifications
