Position Summary:
Perform all AV Sound Engineer responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include operating company sound and visual equipment for live and recorded events in a professional manner such that Guests are provided a great experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino's "Unsurpassed Service" Standards at all times.
Responsible for safe operation and keeping of company assets in Sound Engineer control.
Responsible for all rules, policies, and procedures related to safety, as well as proper use of sound equipment and maintenance tools related to sound.
Primarily responsible for the production needs of Stage 131 performance events.
Responsible for operation of Gun Lake Casino soundboard and lighting systems as well as provide occasional assistance with the Crestron Visual System. This is the primary front-of-house sound system for Stage 131 entertainment venue. This responsibility entails complete monitoring of sound production using a digital console. Responsibilities include:
Stage management of the performances at Stage 131 and any outdoor music events.
Operation of the DMX lighting console used at Stage 131.
Nightly wrap-up report of the evening's performance and objective rating of the performers act for future reference.
Proper sound levels in accordance with established sound levels for Stage 131 and other events.
Sound is set up most evenings by the Sound Engineer as well as subsequent sound checks with performers. Teardown of the set, as well as proper storage of property assets after every performance by the Sound Engineer.
Responsible for the playlist builds on the Control Play system. Playlists to be built on a weekly basis, based on the daily player demographics and/or any special events. Playlists must be reviewed and approved by management prior to implementation.
Performers' primary contact on the floor and stage will be the Sound Engineer. Tact, professionalism, and proper business conduct and ethics are the responsibility of the Sound Engineer.
Responsible for handling guest comments and complaints in a professional and friendly manner.
Provide Entertainment booking suggestions based on research and review of new and/or returning bands. Research should include band name, length of time the band has played together, band's performance reviews at other venues, their typical "going rate", list of other venues the band has played at, and date (if any) of their last performance at Stage 131.
Daily and weekly preventative maintenance to keep equipment clean and in working order, and to minimize possible equipment failure. Responsible for communicating detailed information on damaged equipment which needs repair or replacement to the Marketing Manager, as well as provide suitable replacement suggestions and/or repair facilities as needed.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be 18+ years of age.
Demonstrated successful Sound Engineer or Sound Technician experience of 2 years or more.
Successful candidates will possess basic knowledge of equalization, compression, limiting, and miking of musical instruments including but not limited to: drums, bass, guitars, horns, stringed instruments, harmonica, piano, and vocals.
Understanding of lighting systems such as DMX is required.
Knowledge of sound pressure settings and the detrimental impact of unmonitored sound pressure readings.
Demonstrated musician or musical background is preferred.
Entertainment Production degree (AA or BA) is advantageous but not required.
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations and handling guest complaints.
Ability to work flexible schedule as required to support day or evening performances.
Successful candidates will be a self-starter and punctual.
Must possess a basic understanding of band and roadie lingo and practices.
Physical Requirements:
Requires normal corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
Ability to move and lift AV equipment and speakers up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an area, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a sitting or non-sitting position. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Work may entail trained electronics and electrical services and practices. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.
