Departmental Summary: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is currently seeking an Application Developer III for our Detroit location. This individual will be responsible for contributing towards the development, maintenance, and support of BCBSM SmartBot (Virtual Assistant) applications. Resource should also guide and lead the other developers as needed basis to ensure code quality and development standards are met. Departmental Requirements: * Strong knowledge developing web applications using J2EE, Multi thread programming, Data structure, Junit and Mockito * Experience working with Spring Boot, MicroServices, LOG4j, Spring security, JWT token, Single Sign On (SSO) integration with SAML, Routers and filters using zuul proxy * Experience in Angular, Ionic or any responsive frameworks. * Experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS * Experience working with tools like Git, Maven, gradle * Expertise developing enterprise-level web applications and RESTful APIs using MicroServices, with demonstrable production-scale experience * Demonstrate strong design and programming skills using JSON, Web Services, XML in Unix and Windows environments * Experience with Build Automation, Continuous Integration and Test Automation (npm, Gradle, Maven, Jenkins) * Understanding of Integrated Development Environments like Visual Studio Code, Eclipse and InteliJ * Strong knowledge with Oracle, Mongo DB databases * Proven competence in analyzing business needs and working with cross functional (technical & non technical) teams * Proven experience working in various application lifecycle stages such as transitioning, sustaining, maintaining of applications * Participate in SCRUM activities such as stand-up, code review, backlog grooming, product demo, and sprint retrospective * Passion to stay on top of the latest happenings in the tech world and an attitude to discuss and bring those into play * Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Departmental Preferences: * Follow project management processes and standards for agile product delivery * Follow best practices and coding standards * Strong problem solving and analytical skills * Understanding on the Conversational AI technologies leverage such as Google Dialog Flow, RASA. Responsibilities: * Work closely with clients, business analysts and team members on small to large, complex projects to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that align with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization's architectural standards. * Provide support in the full systems life cycle for multiple applications to ensure application software is delivered on time and within budget. * Code applications using a disciplined development process. * Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework. * Create data extracts and reports from system based on requirements. * Develop, execute, and document unit test plans. * Support and/or execute all testing efforts across the life cycle. * Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment. Make modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms and version control documents, following procedures, etc. * Validate deployment. * Assist in production support and monitoring using the tools installed on the servers such as Dynatrace, Splunk etc. * Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions. * Provide ongoing maintenance of applications. * Evaluate existing applications and platforms and provides recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications. * Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results. * Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems. * Participate in project planning processes, as needed. * Identify better sources of data feeds and interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility with corporate data warehouse, when needed. Identify technical requirements, as needed. * Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements, as needed. Adhere to standards and procedures, check for compliance. * Review modules for quality assurance. * Evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices and provide recommendations for solutions, as needed. * Prepare and present formal training to IT staff, as needed. * Provide technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members. * Other duties may be assigned. "Qualifications" EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. * Five+ years of advanced programming techniques and application design required. * Experience in systems design and have a solid understanding of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies required. * Project management experience is required.
