We are seeking a skilled Bindery Operator to join our team. As a Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various bindery equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This is a crucial role in our printing operation, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy we have established over the last 135 years.
```Responsibilities```
- Set up, operate, and maintain bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, collators, drilling, laminators and stitching machines.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and quality control
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
- Follow job specifications to ensure accurate finishing of printed materials
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production deadlines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, order items with the owner, restock shelves when stock comes in and be responsible for your department.
```Qualifications```
- Previous experience as a Bindery Operator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of bindery equipment operation and maintenance
-Bind new books, using hand tools such as bone folders, knives, hammers, or brass binding tools
-Perform highly skilled hand finishing binding operations, grooving/lettering
-Design original or special bindings for limited editions or other customer projects
-Apply color to edges of signatures using brushes, pads or atomizers
- Familiarity with Heidelberg Windmill, shipping UPS and willing to learn to prepare Mailings for delivery to the USPS.
- Knowledge of printing and general workflow of a printshop
- Attention to detail and ability to perform quality control checks
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
