ASSISTANT PLANT CONTROLLER
TRAVERSE CITY, MI (TRAVERSE CITY PLANT)
As a member of the Lear Traverse City Leadership Team, the Assistant Plant Controller will be responsible for financial reporting and analysis in the organization. Providing reporting and analysis to facilitate critical business decisions based on financial data. Supporting plant operations through of and by, providing actionable information on key performance indicators and trends. Communicating with and coordinating plant and division functions, promoting organizational success. Offering recommendations to reduce costs, increase profitability, or otherwise improve financial performance. The ideal candidate would be a self-starting individual who excels in a fast pace and ever-changing environment. Problem solving ability, accuracy, and follow through are important traits for success in this position.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
Participate in the monthly, quarterly and year end close process. Ensure adherence to the financial statements' compliance in accordance with US GAAP and SOX
Support the Controller in developing plant forecast per the Company's operating calendar and the development of annual plant budget
Internal Controls: Help ensure plant compliance with all company internal controls as specified by the Lear financial manual; ensure the accuracy of all pricing and costing in QAD; assist with SOX evaluating each quarter and is compliant with relevant policies, procedures, and GAAP accounting standards. Drive internal controls compliance throughout the organization and ability to demonstrate their effectiveness to Internal and External Auditors.
Maintain records of fixed assets and tooling programs
Track and report all capital projects completed in the facility
Create and/or review and verifies the accuracy of month end journal entries and accounts reconciliation
Responsible to support the semi-annual physical inventory to ensure that accuracy of the outcome
Track the plant profitability by program (PPR) for the forecast and the month-end actual as well as various costing projects
Responsible to support various meetings, ad hoc projects and/or requests for plants, division, and corporate.
Assist with adherence to purchasing procedures
Support payroll process and tracking throughout the month and accrual at month end (i.e., union dues, taxes, vacation accrual)
Assist with customer billings and records
Analyze financial statements for potential R&O areas and develop solutions
Assist in development of junior department members
Other duties as assigned by the Controller or Plant Manager
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
4-7 years of plant Finance experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Proven analytical, communication and organizational skills.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible and/or changeable schedule, especially during the month end close process
Demonstrated ability to follow through on various continuous improvement initiatives
Bonus If You Have:
Previous automotive experience preferred
QAD Experience
